AU Roundup Post: October '15

Have we talked about an AU on Plurk and not played with it? Is there a meme that hasn't shown up for a while, or a game setting that you'd like to play with outside of the game itself (looking at you, Synodiporia Jaunts)?

Let me know here! Let's do something!

Feel free to tag around, too. :)

Digital Frontier shenanigans

It almost seemed fruitless, but once CLAUDIA knew there was trouble, she couldn't very well stay put. Not when there were other Programs that needed help. Not when SAGE needed help.

So naturally, she pulls up to the fracas on her lightcycle just in time for the Users and the strange white-lit Programs - Variables, was it? - to vanish, as seamlessly as if they'd been deleted.

"...Well," she says into the sudden silence. "I appear to be fashionably late."

Yomi, because WHY NOT YOMI (pre-jaunt by a good bit)

It's an unseasonably hot day even by Melasurei's standards; the Phlegethon's acting up, as it sometimes does, and there's been a slight chance of brimstone for a few days now with nothing actually coming of it. But there's no rioting for the moment, and no one's actively trying to sabotage the city's tenuous hold on peace, so it all works out.

Visitors to the Immortali quarter know the best place to go to cool off - if not with a drink, then with Yomi's alchemical air-cooling system. That welcoming gust of cool air when a satisfied patron leaves is designed to lure in another overheated straggler, and nine times in ten, it works.

Inside, it's cozily appointed, the walls painted a soothing blue-gray, interspersed with gas lamps on sconces and shelves of liquor. The tile floor is covered here and there with tatami mats - red and black, in concentric squares. There's a slightly raised platform to one end of the space, with a piano; the bar itself takes up most of the wall opposite the door.

The owner's behind the bar, as is usual when he's not in the back mixing something or other. Come in, cool off, have a drink. Maybe something even Naoki thinks is interesting will happen.
darkhourdear: (Phillip [whaaaaaat])

Living with Kanji and his mom and everything was... different, but not bad! Being in this world took some getting used to, since Phillip was also being hit with the double whammy of new world and new country, so very little was familiar to him. But Kanji's mom is really nice and seems to like having someone else around, and Kanji is obviously awesome, and all of his friends are pretty nice (though yeah, now he sees why the whole five different versions of Inaba thing was weird- seeing Naoto but not is kind of uncomfortable).

Unfortunately, Phillip has not stopped being prone to dangerous and vaguely stupid acts, which is why he got the bright idea to check out the TV world for himself. Teddie could get them all out, so it shouldn't be a problem for him, right?

Wrong. Phillip wasn't born in the TV world, so getting out for him isn't that easy. At least the Shadows are all too freaked out by him to try and attack?

The last thing Fate remembered was her mother heading out, and the whole Garden of Time de-stabilizing. As a creation of Precia's, it relied on her magic to stay stable- and when Precia had died, the whole thing had gone terribly awry. In an act of desperation, Fate sent her magic out, in a wide-ranging teleport with destination parameters of anywhere safe.

She wasn't sure where she was, or why the teleport had drained her so thoroughly, but she was on solid, not-quaking ground, Bardiche's standby form of a small golden triangle clutched to her chest.

Fate tried to sit up, but her body was having none of that. Whatever she had done to teleport had diminished her reserves in a way that was interfering with her body, leaving her weak as a newborn kitten, drained in a way past starvation. She could at least look around through the haze of exhaustion, and was glad of the fact that it was night.

Very few people would have seen the tattle-tale flash of gold that heralded her unceremonious arrival.

The Missing Dragon Roleswap! (with Greenji and Green Apprentice Maria)

Where was Isadore? Maria had to find him fast, because otherwise he might think Puppy-Eater really was Beato and that would be no good. But she'd been running so heedlessly in her first flush of escape that she was now quite lost--lost in the crowd and lost in the city. She hadn't lost track of Sakutaro yet, thank goodness, but otherwise she was very much lost. And tired. And scared.

Maybe that's why she bumped into the very tall boy.

"Oh!" she says. "Sorry!"

Indigo’s Library

Nacio and Kasimir have always done everything together.

Everyone in the town they grew up in knows this. It was true when things up in the mountains were better, it was true when tragedy struck both of their families, and it was true when they decided they were going to see how they could better their circumstances – to the point where some of the town gossips actually expressed surprise they went for different colors. (But really, that just shows they weren’t paying proper attention. Nacio’s a reader and Kasimir’s a doer; working together doesn’t mean complete overlap.)

They’re as good as brothers, and they approach just about everything as a pair – together, or not at all. The bigger the decision (say, to leave town and tag along with the embassy to Misericordia), the more likely it is they’ll talk it over first.

Their most recent conversation was a major one indeed, but in the end the benefits outweighed the drawbacks. They weren’t really expecting to go home anyway, so why not make a new one in the most dramatic way possible? Not being separated any more than their natural preferences already take them to different places is another bonus, and even then they’ve both always been good at pulling each other out of ruts.

The library clinched it, at least for Nacio. Three days later and he has yet to leave it, even knowing he has all the time in the world now. The matter of the dragon doesn’t seem nearly as pressing – just another curiosity among many, one there’ll be plenty of time to research later.

He… might need to be prodded back in the direction of reality.

Magicians’ Quarter

There’s… well, not precisely a new face in the Magicians’ Quarter. Nacio got in with a few well-displayed cantrips early into the embassy’s time in the city.

What’s new is the deep blue cloak he’s sporting. Surely it’s just an effort to keep a little heat in, in this cold weather, and nothing more. Surely. And if he’s watching others’ progress with interest, well, he did that anyway. It’s always good to see what others are accomplishing.

A particularly clever use of a spell catches his attention, blue eyes sparking with amusement. (…Wait, weren’t his eyes brown?)

Academy Quarter

The Academy Quarter might have a bit less in the way of magical texts, but no matter; a library is still a library. (His own is better, but that can’t really be helped, now can it?)

Nacio could have got himself into the Academy Quarter with no trouble before, but now it’s almost laughably easy. He pays little mind to anything other than the libraries, where he has countless questions for the hapless folks who happen to be staffing the desks. Still, that doesn’t mean he’s completely incapable of being distracted.

(OOC: Feel free to make up another in-Misericordia option if you want!)
