AU Roundup Post: October '15

Have we talked about an AU on Plurk and not played with it? Is there a meme that hasn't shown up for a while, or a game setting that you'd like to play with outside of the game itself (looking at you, Synodiporia Jaunts)?

Let me know here! Let's do something!

Feel free to tag around, too. :)

He returns the laugh, a little softly and sadly, rubbing his head for a moment. "That's the important thing," he says, with a sigh. "Wherever he went... I don't know. Users know what they do."

Remember me, he'd been told. Had SAGE known he was going away...?

"He's not in danger anymore. That's good enough for me." Wherever it is he's off to, along with the white Programs, no doubt he'll be all right.

"In any case... what have I missed, and what do we do now?"

"What haven't you missed," KAN-3 says with a headshake. "I can drop you the data on the past - well, since the others came outta stasis - quickly, if ya like. Might be simpler than tryin' to explain, though I ain't really got all the details myself."

As for the other question... "But 'what now's kinda the problem."

"I'd appreciate it. Knowing what we missed while we were holed up is at least a place to start, and then we can help figure out what to do going forward, other than finish reclaiming everything."

The fact that the Automata scattered is promising, if nothing else. In any case, she offers a hand for an Interface.

"That's what I'm here for, at least. To rebuild."

But he smiles, and puts his hand to hers, eyes and circuits flickering - while he's leaving out some of the more personal elements of his past experiences, including his conversion, the data streams in of the original Cryptos' awakening, the Variables' discovery, the gigodaemon attacks, Rebels' creation, and their last final, frantic search...

"...They threw off Priority? How? Why?" Granted, for your average Crypto, Priority is more of a guideline than an actual rule, but even so.

She's going to have to talk to some of these Rebels, one of these millicycles.

"I'd offer data in return, but a couple hundred cycles of being holed up in an armory isn't nearly as interesting."

"Glitch if I know. Leader's got some tricks up its sleeves. I just walked in there and all of a sudden..." He shakes his head. Well. She's seen how badly it went, from his old Miner's perspective.

"But - man. I'm just glad you didn't derez outta boredom over there."

"Well, no doubt they made the choice they thought was best or themselves." As did the original Cryptos, when SAGE brought them in, and KAN himself when he took Leo's offer.

"Oh, we're used to spending long stretches of millicycles together, and it's a big armory. We muddled through."

Which doesn't mean they're not glad for a few more Programs to talk to.

KAN-3 nods at the first. As much as the knowledge had confused - and hurt - at first? He can't judge them for their choices.
...Except perhaps whoever it was who converted that Beta. Someprogram needs their code checking.

He's obviously relieved at the latter part, though. "That's good to hear. Everyone else still back there, right? It'll be awesome to meet 'em."
claudiometer: with Artie (young grasshopper)

[personal profile] claudiometer 2015-10-18 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"They are, yes. ARTIE's unlikely to leave, even with the immediate danger over, and everyone else chose to make sure we didn't come under attack ourselves." Better to stay where all the weaponry is, in a situation like that, but CLAUDIA felt the need to come help in person, if she could.

15 microcycles late with Pixelbucks, but what can you do.

"As for moving forward, we're happy to help where we can. With the Ports down, it's going to take everyone to get things back to normal, or at least closer to it."
creativefool: (.55.)

[personal profile] creativefool 2015-10-18 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Logical. He really can't blame anyone for wanting to stay safe after all this time...

"Depends what you call 'normal' these millicycles," he says with a laugh. "Up 'n running again, right?"

"Well, it certainly won't be what it used to be. The Automata are still here, even if they seem to have backed off, and there's the new faction, which can't very well leave the Grid without being mistaken for a corruptive agent themselves. And even once the Ports are reopened, I doubt all of the Miners and Defenders will want to leave. But there's a chance to make something better from what we have left."

[personal profile] creativefool 2015-10-18 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
KAN-3 nods; most of what she's saying makes sense. "Right. I can't see the Defenders goin' anywhere in a hurry," he says. "They've been runnin' the show around here for cycles; it's gonna take a lot to shake 'em out of it."

But ... eh. Defenders. "Enough worryin' about that, though. Sure, things are rough right now. But we're gonna rebuild this place twice as good as before!" he says with a pump of his arm.

That gets a grin in return. "Of course we are. With this many new minds to contribute, there's very little way it could be worse, especially since the Automata seem to have given up."

Really, at this point they'd be the most likely source of disruption. The Defenders seem to be a bit of a pain, in the Interface data's anything to go by, but they want the Grid to be safe, in the end - the same thing most everyone else wants.

"For now, anyway," he says, with a slightly wary glance around. Still. For now more than he's known in all his runtime since he first arrived here, barely out of Beta... things are looking up, in a way he wouldn't have expected even not so long ago. "But ... heh. If they try anything else, we've got it handled, right?"

"That we do. And with the communications system and a solar sailer back up, it'll be that much easier."

Her lightcycle will take her most places she wants to go, but it'll be far simpler to take a solar sailer most of the way somewhere whenever possible.
